Honed or Polished Concrete

Honed concrete is created by laying the decorative concrete in the same way as the exposed aggregate but then the top surface is honed flat. Contemporary Surfaces also offers the option of a 'wet cut' or a 'tool join'. This is done on the day of installation and gives a uniform look. Please note limited patterns are available in the 'wet cut' pattern.

All of Contemporary Surfaces Liquid Limestone jobs include galvanized mesh to help minimize the risk of cracks appearing. We use high quality mesh and use a galvanized version for Liquid limestone. The porosity of the liquid limestone can mean that if non galvanized mesh is used, rust may appear over time.

We also seal all our jobs and strongly recommend that an acrylic sealer is used to protect the liquid limestone and it also gives a longer lifespan of protection than water based alternatives. If price is an issue we are able to offer a water based alternative.

Contemporary Surfaces installation process

For all non-trafficable areas we install a minimum of 40mm of road base and 80mm if the area is to be trafficable. The road base is used beneath the artificial lawn to ensure maximum strength and durability.

The road base is then levelled, watered and compacted. Approximately 20mm of cracker dust is installed on top of the road base and then it is watered and compacted again.

The area is then screeded perfectly ready to install your new artificial lawn. Contemporary Surfaces quality artificial lawn is then installed, joined with high quality joining tape (where required), pegged down and finally white sand is then power broomed into the lawn. The site is then cleaned up and you are ready to enjoy your new artificial lawn from Contemporary Surfaces.
